Acceptance and friendship

When someone whom I have helped, or in whom I have placed great hope: harms me with great injustice; May I still see that one as a sacred friend. -Geshe Langri Thangpa (from The Eight Verses for Training the Mind)

Tough lesson, but it occurred to me recently that I have managed to cultivate this in relation to the very short list of people whom I once viewed poorly as a result of their actions. (Is it ever possible to say such a thing without it sounding like a brag? Meh.)

Just a marker in the field as I contemplate several such sacred friends and send thought of warmth, care, and benefit to them, wherever they may be.
