I’m pretty sure I’ve written about this somewhere in this place; but this fellow breaks it down and lays it out in a beautiful and utterly accessible way.
He also does a pretty good job of demonstrating how/why Mr. GRRM of Game of Thrones fame is a pretty far cry from being “An American Tolkien”. Mind you, I enjoy Martin’s work for what it is, but I am weary of the hyperbole and especially annoyed at the slight to Tolkien in it. (Even if the slight is more by ignorance than intent.)
Anyway… I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. A well spent hour for the overview of literary concepts, theory, and analysis.
